The Gettysburg Ghost Exchange Brings You The Haunted Orphanage
During the battle of Gettysburg, this building was the headquarters of Union General O.O. Howard. Purchased after the War ended and opened In 1866, it became an orphanage that at one time housed 130 boys and girls who had lost their father's to the war.
Three years into the opening of the orphanage, the head mistress, Rosa Carmichael, became infamous for her cruelty. In 1877 she was convicted of neglect and told to leave town. The orphanage closed in disgrace, never to open again. Some locals say the spirit of Rosa still scares the children and can be felt looming in the darkness.
